grant of $1,200. Urgent procurement of equipment (boots, socks, sweaters
and raincoats) for approximately 200 staff of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
in Maharashtra, Central India.
VISIT
OF SHRI VALMIK THAPAR
Shri Valmik Thapar, Member Tiger
Steering Committee visited Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve from 28/1/2000
to 30/1/2000 he was accompanied with Dr. Ulhas Karanth. Shri Thapar reviewed
works done in Tiger Project. He also reviewed protection measures done
by management and suggested some measures for better protection strategy.
Shri Thapar and Dr. Karanth also
participated in distribution of clothing to field staff provided by
Saving Wild Tigers.
Shri Thapar also visited Nagzhira
Sanctuary in Bhandara District from 31st January, to 2nd February, 2000.
At the end of his tour his illustrated talk on Natural Treasury of India
was organised at Nagpur on 2/2/2000 afternoon. A large number of senior
Forest, Police and other Government officers along with lawyers, Journalist,
NGOs and other eminent people of Nagpur participated in the talk.
